More About Urology
Urology (aka: genitourinary surgery) is a surgical subspecialty that tackles a wide spectrum of diseases involving the male and female urinary tract, the male reproductive system, and the female pelvic floor. Urologists manage afflictions ranging from genitourinary malignancies (renal cell carcinoma, prostate carcinoma, transitional cell carcinoma, testicular carcinoma, etc.) and renal stones to congenital genitourinary defects, perineal reconstruction, and male infertility.

Although Urologists are surgeons, a significant part of the urologic practice also involves medical management of disease (i.e., no knife).

In addition to vasectomies, our area of expertise covers not only the male urinary tract, but also the systems and organs specific to men’s bodies/guy issues. Our Physicians manage vasectomy, infertility, prostate and urination issues, impotence, testicular and penile problems. Men are staying healthier and living longer now than in decades past.

WOMEN’S HEALTH
Coastal Urology treats women’s health conditions related to the female urinary tract. Women represent a large percent of our practice. A large part of female urologic issues are voiding disorders and incontinence problems. Kidney stones are now primarily a female issue. While urology seems to be most often focused on male health, an overwhelming number of women are also impacted by urologic diseases.

Millions of women suffer in silence with debilitating urologic diseases and conditions, both malignant and benign, including kidney cancer, bladder cancer, chronic pain, interstitial cystitis, and various forms of incontinence. We listen, respect and invite you to participate in your care.

Dr. Burzon recently traveled to Haiti to help serve those in need by providing medical care and treatment to multiple Haiti residents. Dr. Burzon has made more than 30 mission trips to Haiti in the last decade.
Dr. Fam is now the Director of Urologic Oncology, Jersey Shore University Medical Center and the Director of Robotic Surgery, Ocean Medical Center.
